GRAND LAKE FARMER'S MARKET

Since 2010, Bicycle Coffee has been slinging coffee at the Grand Lake Farmers Market in Oakland, California. The design of this mobile cafe has evolved over the years, but the fundamentals stay the same. Every Saturday morning the Bicycle Coffee crew attaches their bicycles to specially designed trailers loaded with hot coffee, cold brew, and bags of freshly roasted coffee. The journey starts at the roastery in Jack London Square and ends at the Farmers Market in Splash Pad Park near beautiful Lake Merrit.

Upon arrival, the crew works quickly to transform the bike trailers into a stand-alone cafe. Using a series of planks, tubes, and set-screws; these bicycle trailers morph into a row of connected coffee carts. These modular bicycle carts are the brain-child of Bicycle Coffee’s in-house designer and co-founder, Matt McKee.

Next time you’re in Oakland on a Saturday, stop by the Grand Lake Farmers Market, presented by the Agricultural Institute of Marin, and say hello.
